First Lady- Reverend Joyce Rose Scott



Minister Joyce R. Scott was born in Franklin, Virginia and is the daughter of Mrs. Lois Rose and the late John R. Rose Sr. She attended public school in the city of Franklin and graduated from Hayden High School. She continued her education at Norfolk State University, successfully majoring in Nursing Education. Minister Scott later attended the Norfolk Community Hospital School of Anesthesia under the cooperative auspices of the Howard University School of Medicine and matriculated and successfully completed the art of Anesthetic Care. She is affiliated with the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists, The Virginia Association of Nurse Anesthetists, and is a state certified Licensed Practitioner.

Minister Joyce Rose-Scott is currently employed at Chesapeake General Hospital and has the distinction of being the first black female Chief Nurse Anesthetist and is the Director of the Department of Anesthesia. She is also the Unit Director for both the Surgical Admitting Department and Pre-Admission Testing Department. She has served as EEOC Ombudsman for Chesapeake General Hospital.

Minister Joyce Rose-Scott has been blessed to share over 25 years of marriage to Bishop Wm. Darryl Scott Sr. who pastors the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Virginia Beach, Virginia, where she joyfully acknowledged her call to ministry. She has functioned in several servitude capacities at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. She has served as President of the Beautification Ministry, as a member of the Constitution Committee, and as the Chairperson of the Wedding Ethics Committee. She currently serves as Pastoral Administrative Assistant, and Director of Women’s Ministry at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Additionally, she enjoys the labor of love in sharing her ministry as the Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer of E. L. Ministries, an evangelistic/empowerment ministry. She has been continually called upon to minister effectively to others in the local community at various functions and churches, and is one of the key note speakers invited to speak at an International Women’s Ministry Forum 2004, to be convened in Japan Her commitment to God, family, her fellowman and sisters in Christ are certainly admirable and she blesses many with a bold spirit of proclamation.

Minister Joyce Rose-Scott is the mother of two wonderful children: Tasha Dominique Scott-who graduated from The George Washington University School of Law in Washington, D. C.; with a Juris Doctorate degree, and William Darryl Scott Jr - who graduated from Hampton University with a degree in Business Marketing.
